Samuel graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Mathematics (double major), where his studies also included chemical and process engineering.
Samuel spent two and a half years in the Water Operations team at Rotorua District Council; during this time he was heavily involved in leak detection, flow and pressure monitoring, hydrant flow testing, infiltration investigations, and the supervision and auditing of contractors. He successfully managed a few small civil projects, and had a significant role in the implementation of a novel vortex manhole for odour control.
At JBCL he has carried out numerous data logging projects, exercises, and investigations using the Technolog range of data loggers. He has also used InfoAsset Manager to clean and verify reticulation models.
